This individual was found in 12th of April 2006 by Brynjólfur Brynjúlfsson in Höfn in Hornafjörður, SE-Iceland, and remained until the 22nd. It has very smooth underparts. However, the barring in the upper and undertail coverts could be denser, the bill more bi-colourus and the head could be paler. It bears many features suggesting american herring gull, but in my opinion, it is difficult to be sure. It was accepted by the Icleandic rarity committee as american herring gull.
