2cy-pale Smith/smith look-alike?, Iceland
On the 27th of March 2007, Yann Kolbeinsson photographed this confiding gull in Grindavík. Although being pale, it has smooth underparts, paler head, bi-coloured bill, Inconspicuous inner primary window and reasonably barred upper tailed coverts. On the other hand the tailfeathers do not appear that black. While it will be hard to prove ith being an american herring gull, it is an interesting specimen that differs in many ways from most of the herring gulls seen in Iceland.
