Armenian og yellow-legged gull

Post by royfjelldal » Fri Dec 10, 2010 5:59 pm

Helo!

I hope someone can help me to identify this gull photographed near Alanya in Turkey 17. september. The bird was unscared and eaesy to photograph. It did not flew away. One of the legs was hurt by something that looked like a fishing-line.
To me it looks like something between an armenian and a yellow-legged gull. Happy for comments.
Regards Roy

hi roy,

this is clealy a larus michahellis: large head and long bill, pale iris, long mirror on old p10. note that many adult michahellis also get some black marks on bill during the complete moult in late summer - early autumn.

lou
