Hi
What do you think about this gull? Eric Christen observed it yesterday 9.11. in Zürich, Switzerland.
Thank you for your help!
Kind regards

Re: ID Help
hi jonas
barabensis-lookalike, but what?
3rd cycle cach without mirror? eastern cach?, i have seen 3rd cycle cachs with such short tongues (p10) but not without any mirror. but i guess this could at least have cachi-blood. doesn't have the shape of a mich at all. on the other hand such a black pattern could be identic in a 3rd cycle mich. soft brown tone to greater coverts imo favours an eastern candidate. shortish yellow legs and other traits look nice for steppe gull...
on first check i found one pic of a similarly looking bird (from bucharest, cristian) that i have under micha section but possibly is a cach:
and a dark eyed 3rd cycle micha:
