Hi Guys,
I went to the dump today to photograph gulls near my town Debrecen, Hungary.
I encountered some gulls I have difficulties to correctly ID. I would appreaciate if you could help me with these birds.
1-2. pictures: Can it be an adult 'heuglini'? Unfortunately I couldn't take any pictures of it while on the ground. I saw another pale-mamtled LBBG with much darker mantle and dark-streaked hood.
3-5. pictures: Strange looking 2cy bird resembling both cachinnans and argentatus in some respects. For reference I attached photos of a 2nd winter bird from 2012, which looks pretty much the same. It was said to be a probable hybrid on this forum before.
6. picture: Is it a 1st winter HG?
7. picture: presumed cachinnans X argentatus hybrid from Dec 2012
Thanks in advance,
Cheers,
Gabor

Re: Various gulls need ID
hi gabor,
the last bird (pic 6) could well be a pure michahellis - tail is typical for that sp. and not for cachinnans/argentatus. everything else is well within micha-variation including the strong window.
best wishes,
lou
