These pictures, taken on 19 Nov 2011 somewhere in Normandy (France), have been sent to me by a friend (not taken by him).
He asks for the true identity of that bird (ringed as a "Larus cachinnans kolonia"): pure cachinnnans or hybrid?

I do agree: my friend was puzzled by the shortish bill and legs, for the latter the fluffy belly feathers are probably responsible of the "shortness" of the legs.

FYI, PHDK was approved as a Caspian Gull by Normand CHR (regional Rare Birds Committee) in its 2013 report, "despite its rather stubby [court et fort] bill".
Tony Le Huu Nghia found and followed this bird during a week in Dives-sur-Mer (Calvados).
