Herring Gull 1st winter primaries

Just a few example birds from the Netherlands. Both taxa (local argenteus & Scandinavian argentatus) may be involved. I selected birds on peppering on inner primaries and birds which have the pale window extending rather far outwards. After uploading the images look a bit flat on my screen (sorry), missing the saturation. One bird with pale inner primaries is on a larger image http://www.gull-research.org/hg/image01 ... e_3716.jpg (same picture 5 MB). The bird scheveningen20120201_0016.jpg looked very pale in the field, just limited pigmentation all over. Last bird is pretty standard: scheveningen20120309_4501.jpg.
