I was digging my last winter photos taken near Lisbon, and I come across (again) with this 2 cy (March) gull. By that time I convinced myself it was another YLG with Caspian look, what do you thinK?

Re: 2cy michahellis or cachinnans???
hi rui,
it's a pale/bleached yellow-legged. bill is high and not very long, tip is blunt, greater coverts well patterned, tail band tapering towards corners, underwing darkish.
regards,
lou

Thanks lou, bill shape, underwing and advanced moult in coverts made me go for YLG back then.... but the headshape have made me wonder again.lou bertalan wrote:tail band tapering towards corners
However I am not quite into what is a usual caspian tail pattern. More black in the outer tail feathers making the tail band more equal! is that it? example http://lou.bertalan.de/gulls/m_phi.php? ... nuary-june
