lusitanius weekend in Zarautz

Great Black-backed Gull marinus 1CY on November 23 - 25 2018 at Ondarroa harbour (ES). Only few observations for this taxon in the weekend.

r[4W4:G] ringed as pullus lusitanius on June 21 2018 at Donostia / San Sebastián (ES) 43.336929,-1.960152.
Observed in Ondarroa porta (ES) on several occasions.

From another Bask project, which is run by Aitor Galarza. These are birds with black code on orange rings, like this one o[2B.ML] lusitanius 2CY.

Bird ringed about 10 km's NW of Ondarroa, on June 25 2017 at Isla de Lekeitio Bizkaia / Spain.

By far, most michahellis must have been from local lusitanius population this weekend. However, Med michahellis may be difficult to ID in such groups, unless they are obviously large, bulky, paler overall and with much more advanced moult schemes. Only a single ringed bird from the Mediterranean, a bird from the Camarque, S France: g[097:C].

This seminar was more or less meant to give more insight in occurance of Herring Gull in the Bask country. We had several birds in the harbour, and it's always nice the ID is confirmed by ringed birds, like this one from France o[2:ENU]. I guess a bird ringed in 2017 in St-Nazaire, in the mouth of river Loire in France.
