In flight, p1-p10 turned out to be present and worn.

Re: unringed fuscus
It seems the wrong birds in this picture are ringed!

Re: unringed fuscus
A correction Theo, p1-p2 are new, p3 is dropped and p4-p10 are old primaries. Personally I think that Lesser Black-backed Gulls which show at these date a primary moult as on this individual not certainly can rule out from (very) norther breeding intermediusTheo Muusse wrote:In flight, p1-p10 turned out to be present and worn.

Re: unringed fuscus
Difficult to say, but the prim covs do not stand out as being fresher in the inner wing.
Besides I see something of an edge next to the fresh p2, which may be a worn or broken p3...

Re: unringed fuscus
But fully agree on the problem of northern Norway birds.
Certainly since we saw more than 1 bird then and 4 yesterday. They show the build of a non-fuscus but
have moult-scores as fuscus, for example the ringed bird..

Re: unringed fuscus
More birds ringed in northern-Norway are read in Israel (on the site mentioned in the other topic).
Mixed colony? Or mixed migration route?

Re: unringed fuscus

Re: unringed fuscus
A lot of fuscus on passage this year. Not only three ringed birds in Westkapelle, but plenty of unringed birds as well. This one's from IJmuiden from today.
