Quite interesting! I am a little bit surprised about the misidentification by the ringer, because I know Kjeld is qualified in large gulls. He knews their differences (cach vs. mich) rather than all westeuropean gull-maniacs !

it's a mistake that the ringdata says argentatus . Kjeld know it's a cachinnans . The bird had been stayning in the park for a couple of month before kjeld was able to capture it by hand .

Well, it´s not even a mistake, I guess. I was told that Kjeld have used his HEGU and also LBBG project rings for the occasional Caspian gull.

The yellow rings has been used many years mainly for HG and small numbers of LBBG , but some CACH and YLG has also been ringed with yellow rings . kjeld are now using blue rings . These are used mainly for LBBG , but also for HG ,CACH, YLG . Here is a ringed cachinnans with blue ring .

The photo above was taken 15.11.2009 rødvig havn in denmark , same date it was ringed by kjeld.t.pedersen . Here are some more photos from denmark from the same bird http://www.fugleognatur.dk/gallery.asp? ... &ID=114339 + voice recording of this one and a second bird http://www.xeno-canto.org/40293
